Mandala - beaded pendant

Lentils... Mmm... There were one of my favourite candy when I was a kid. They weren't even available in Poland, so we were getting them always when we went to Czechoslovakia - yep, it was THAT long time ago, when it was still one country. Now you can buy similar candy almost everywhere... but is it just me, or they really don't taste like the true Lentilky? ;)

Now my favourite candy is BEADS! But now you can find lentils even amongst the beads. I got a few colours some time ago, and finally I decided to make some use out of them. This is how the "Mandala" pendant was created. The base is a net made with lentil beads, embellished with seed and fire polished beads. It measures 4cm (1,57") in diameter, and trust me - it was incredibly fast to make. I needed only one hour to complete the second, silver and blue, pendant. It's simple, yet it is quite eye-catching.

The tutorial for the pendant is available on Etsy and Craftsy.

Also, if you would like to get this pattern on Etsy, use a following coupon code: LENTILKY - and it will give you 10% discount - not only for the Mandala pattern, but any other tutorial too. :)
It expires on August 12th, so you have some time to use it. :)

And as always, I want to thank you for visiting this blog. You make me want to create even more. :)
Hugs to all of you! :)

A beaded donut again! ;)

It has been a while since I have made a beaded donut... but it's been even longer since I have published one here. ;)

The two beaded donuts you can see here were made exactly four weeks ago! That shows how slow I am with writing the tutorials... Even the drawings were finished soon after the pendants were made, but today, despite the heat, I finally forced myself to do some work, so the detailed instruction is ready too. It's a very easy pattern, but you should have some experience with peyote stitch in order to make it. It might prove to be too difficult otherwise.

The donuts are made with Toho seed beads size 11 and 8, as well as 3mm and 4mm fire polished beads. They measure around 5cm (2") in diameter without the bail.

You can get the tutorial on Etsy or Craftsy. :)

I hope you're not suffering too much from the heat. I do! But I'm not going to complain, we have a wonderful summer, after all! :)
Hugs and I'll see you again soon. :)

Stapelia - starfish flower

A starfish flower - it was my first thought after I have finished the pendant. A flower that exists for real, actually, although it looks a bit different in reality. It is famous, or maybe rather infamous of having an extremely awful odour of rotten flesh. Sure, the real stapelia looks better than my pendant, but at least my starfish flower doesn't smell bad at all. ;)

The pendant measures 4cm (1,57") in diameter and it is made with 4mm and 6mm glass pearls, 3mm magatamas and seed beads size 11 and 8. It is double sided, as most of my pieces.

Stapelia was finished some time ago, when the temperature was still bearable (it's way too hot now and my boiling brain refuses to think up any new patterns;) ). It took a while to write a tutorial though, but now it is ready too. It is available here on Etsy and Craftsy.

Pillows - beaded pendants :)

So, the holidays are over... no more sleeping until noon then, what a shame. ;( Two new beaded pendants - Pillows - can only remind me about that "lazy" (you already know that it was everything but lazy for me) time. One of them was actually made something like two months ago - now it got a companion. Both pendants are made with bicone beads, glass pearls, SuperDuos and Toho beads. They measure 3cm (1,18") /side length/ and are 1,5cm (0,59") thick.

The pattern for the pendant is ready and soon it will be available both on Craftsy and Etsy.

And I have to go back to the kitchen, or the dinner will be burnt. Oh how I love it.... *sigh*
See you later then. :)

EDIT /03.08.2013: Now the pattern has been finally published. You can get it here (Etsy) or here (Craftsy). :)

The "Ribbon" again - pattern for a matching beaded bead

After making the bracelet from yesterday's post, there was a time for a matching pendant (certainly!). Completely unlike me, I made it pretty fast, despite having a thousand of other things to do, so here you can see it:

beaded bead pattern

beaded bead tutorial

It measures around 2,7cm (1,06") in diameter (without the bail). Made with 8mm glass pearls, SuperDuos and Toho seed beads (size 6, 8 and 11).

And this is how the entire set looks like:

The pattern for the pendant is available on Craftsy and Etsy.

And one more thing for the end - I know some of you are waiting for me to respond to your e-mails... I'll do that as soon as possible, I promise! Despite having vacation, the time is more than busy for me now... :/
Lots of hugs for you! :)

"Ribbon" - tutorial for a beaded bracelet

While I was away from the online world, somewhere between painting the walls, killing monsters in Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition, getting stabs in my stomach (stupid injections, you can't really call them any different way :/ ), crocheting a new necklace, going for 10 km long walks with the Red Beast and worrying about poor little sick Leon I managed to do some beading! I forced myself to do some work eventually and even prepared a tutorial...

So this is "Ribbon", because my crazy imagination sees ribbons in the embellishment:

It is made with 8mm glass pearls, SuperDuos and seed beads, size 11 and 8. Fast and easy to make, it is 2 cm (0,78") wide.

The tutorial is available here on Etsy and Craftsy.

Hopefully I'll find more time for beading soon. :)

Pastel rainbow necklace

Busy with crocheting some other necklace, but in the meantime you can see some other beaded crochet rope I have finished recently. This one soon will go to a friend of mine, so hopefully she will like it. It's a thick one, made with 20 beads per row, yet soft and flexible. Made entirely with Preciosa seed beads size 11 and accompanied by two round jasper stones. The total length of the necklace is 43 cm (17").

Oh, the pattern isn't mine, it was found somewhere in the internet. :)

And as today is the last day you can join my giveaway, tomorrow you can expect the results. So see you until then. :)

Back to beadweaving...

But only here, for the blog purposes. Just because there's a beaded pendant, made last month I think, that was waiting to be shown... In fact it was (and still is) waiting for a tutorial to be written... but it's far too hot here to work. So the tutorial will be prepared in the future, while the pendant can be shown even today. And since there's been nothing happening here recently (I'm so lazy, I know), I might as well do that. :)

The pendant is made with spikes, fire polished beads and Toho seed beads. It measures roughly 5 x 3,5 cm (1,96 x 1,37") without the bail.

Don't know about you, but to me it looks like a strange, multi-legged bug. ;D

I'm happy that so many of you want to participate in my blog candy. Well, there is already more than fifty people who joined the fun, so there will be more prizes for you to win. And there's still one week left, so if you haven't joined yet, better do that when you still have a chance. :)

And as it's finally not that hot here anymore, I'm going out to catch some fresh air. Have fun whatever you do and I'll see you later. :)

Copper and caffè latte

So here we have the third soutache pendant... It's actually a miracle that I have managed to finish it, since Leon, while running on the sofa, constantly kept stealing the cords. I've spent most of the time on fighting to get them back, so sewing the pendant has taken even more effort than last time. Good thing that neither Leon nor Strider were interested in the finished piece. They were too busy with biting the blanket. ;P

But enough about the rats, time to show the pendant, so here it is:

That will be a very short entry, looks like I have to go. Now. :/

Oh, but I'm happy to see that so many of you is interested in winning the tutorials! Anyway, I'll see you soon again. :)

CANDY!

I have been thinking for a while about it and finally have made the decision. Since Eridhan Creations will celebrate its 1st birthday by the end of this month, it might be a very good occassion for a blog candy! And considering that during the last year I have focused mostly on beading tutorials, this is what you can win. :)

The person who will be lucky to win first prize gets ALL tutorials I have written! - That makes over 20 patterns. :)
The second prize - 10 tutorials of your choice
The third prize - 5 tutorials of your choice.

If the number of participants is 50 or more, there will be more of the thirds prizes. :)

Of course, all the tutorials are digital copies (pdf files), just so you know. ;)

What you need to do:

1. Leave a comment under this post - if you don't have a Blogger account make sure that you leave your e-mail address.
2. Share this post on your blog/Facebook/Pinterest/whatever. You don't have to share it everywhere though, pick one and it still will be enough. ;)
3. Follow this blog and/or like Eridhan Creations on Facebook. It's not obligatory at all though, but I'll appreciate it. ;)

You can join by June 30th, midnight, Central European Time. Good luck. :)

Taming wild cords - part 2

Okay, after making the first soutache piece, I coudn't really stop too soon. That resulted in another pendant made with this technique. This time it took only something like 8 hours... and I didn't get enough sleep again last night. Looks like it's not really a technique for me. It is just too time-consuming, and my impatience simply doesn't allow me to stop in the middle of work and return to it the next day. So, either I will give up sewing, or I won't be sleeping at nights. Ah, sleep is a waste of time anyway. ;)

As it is only the second attempt at soutache, I didn't expect it to be perfect - and it certainly isn't  - still it looks a bit better for real than in the pictures. It is truly eye-catching though - and it will remain my new favourite pendant, at least until I make a new one. So, that means a couple of more days, I think. ;)

The pendant measures 6,5 x 5,5 cm (2,55 x 2,16") without the bail. Somehow it turned out to be the same size as the first one. That's the only thing they have in common though, as you can see from the pictures below. ;)

The beaded bead in a beading magazine!

I am proud to announce that my tutorial for a beaded bead has been published in a digital DIY Beading Magazine Issue 6, distributed via iPad Newsstand. Considering that Eridhan Creations will celebrate its 1st birthday later this month, I must say that it is the best present I could get. :)
I just feel honoured that it has been noticed by the editors and featured in their magazine. :)

You can read more about DIY Beading Magazine here.

Thank you, Jane and Isabel! :)

Soutache? Actually, why not? ;)

Well, looks like I'm back. After a couple of wasted weeks it was about time to stop wallowing in self-pity. If I am to die, heck, I will, but since it's not happening right now, there are other, better things to do. Almost too many things though, considering this little time I have left. And as if I haven't had enough ideas for bead weaving, I just had to try one more thing. Again, never say never... instead, from now on, I will keep saying: "later". ;)

Last time you could see my first attempt at bead embroidery, now it's time to see the result of the first ever battle with soutache cords. Oh well, after five long hours (the first 30 minutes was more like "hmm... now what should I do with these sneaky cords trying to escape from my fingers?") I think the beasts have been eventually tamed, as they happened to turn into a pendant. Good tiny cords, they should have been given a reward for that. ;) No reward though for keeping me up until 2 a.m. when I was supposed to go to work five hours later. ;P

Anyway, here's the pendant. I was stupid enough to choose the most contrasting colours that ever existed, so it's almost too easy to spot all the flaws in the finished piece. But as for the first one, it could have been worse. ;)

The pendant measures 6,5 x 5,5 cm (2,55 x 2,16") without the bail.

And one more thing before I say good bye for today. I just want to say thanks. Thank you for being with me when I needed you. Thank you for everything you have said to cheer me up. Thank you for the e-mails you have written and spending your time on talking to me. Thank you for still visiting the blog, even if it was dead for a moment.
I won't say your name here though - you should know that it is *you* I'm thanking right now. :)

A short update

Some of you have probably noticed that I'm not updating this blog as often as I used to. Don't know if it's a temporary break or not. To be honest I wonder if the blog still should exist... but I won't delete it just yet. Could be though that I won't post any new jewelry ever again. Or could be that I will change my mind and return some day, sooner or later in the future. It all depends on how much time I have left. We'll see.

Thank you all for being here with me. I wish you lots of luck.

The first attempt at bead embroidery

Don't make promises you know you cannot keep... yes yes, I should have known that it is always a bad idea to say that I wouldn't try a certain technique if in that certain technique beads are involved...

I have been admiring bead embroidery for a long time. You all make wonderful jewelry with this technique and so far I have been just saying that it's something I would never ever try. Never say never, that is more than true in my case, it looks like.

So, let me show you the first ever attempt at bead embroidery. A pendant made with a beautiful magenta cabochon that I have got from Julia, surrounded by Toho seed beads sizes 8, 11, 15 and Preciosa seed beads size 15. It isn't a small piece though. It measures 7,5 x 4,5 cm (3 x 1,77"). And it still needs a proper cord, I know. Only I haven't decided yet if it's going to be a crochet rope or a leather cord.

All I can say though is that I am quite proud of it. ;) Sure, it could have been looking better, but as for the first trial it's not that bad, I hope. I'm even more proud of myself, as I haven't checked any tutorial... just made it as I thought it should have been made, so all of you who have tried this technique already can tell me now what I did wrong. ;)

And now it's time for me to go, so see you next time. :)

And one more beaded bracelet...

...but it's the last one. No more bracelets waiting to be shown to the world. There are only a few pendants left. ;) So soon the blog will be flooded with pendants again - hopefully you can survive it. ;)

This bracelet however is a simple one, but still quite eye-catching, considering that a few people have commented on it when I was wearing it. It is made with tile beads, SuperDuos and Toho rounds size 11 and 8. Easy and fast to make really, something that even a beginner can handle. ;)

The pattern is available on Etsy.

Gothic Crosses. Two beaded bracelets

To be honest these two bracelets were made back in April, so it's quite some time already. For some reason they haven't been published here so far, it's about time to fix it! They are made with almost the same pattern, they only differ a bit with the final embellishment. Both are made with 6mm glass pearls, SuperDuo beads and Toho seed beads in three sizes. They are 2,5 cm (1") wide.

The pattern for the bracelet is available in my Etsy store.
